With the warm weather climate and so many amusement attractions, Florida is a perfect place for film and commercial shoots.  Sadly, this sagging economy has seen the fall of many video production companies - some that have been in existence for years.  Larger TV studios have been forced to close as a result of high real estate and overhead.  Some smaller video production companies operating with little or no overhead (those with home offices and studios) have managed to hold on.

Professional cameramen have crossed over into other areas such as wedding video - until now an area that for many was poo-pooed.  For one, it takes an incredibly long time to edit and two, creativity is a bit more limited than say, in a commercial or corporate video shoot.

Video Production falls under Marketing and Advertising. Advertising and Marketing budgets are generally the first budgets cut during a company’s economic downsizing.  But is it always the smartest?  There are arguments for seizing the moment to shoot ahead of the competition by making a big splash via marketing.  It is also a good time to take advantage of lower advertising prices - some almost too good to pass up.

Companies who use this time to get their video marketing materials in place will have an edge once the economy turns around. Video is gaining in advertising strength and will soon surpass all other forms of advertising combined.  Let’s just hope that the Florida video companies can hang on enough to reap some of the rewards.
